A small life update for y'all this month :)))
After managing to avoid Covid-19 for nearly two years now, unfortunately my time finally came... I've spent the past two weeks locked up at home being pretty much bed bound for a week. On top of this, two weeks prior to testing positive I was hit with a nasty cold, which means by this point I've had nearly 1month off proper training, not exactly ideal 2 weeks before CX season starts. However, stressing solves nothing and I don't want this to be a depressing life update as being stuck in quarantine has actually been quite productive. Since initially feeling horrible (don't underestimate covid!!) I've got back on top of healthy routines that I'd dismissed in everyday life, such as daily mini corework sessions and getting back on track with learning meditation to help with mental stress, I have found it really helps me especially when kept on top of. I’ve set out a recovery plan to help stay healthy and racing fit, allowing me to stay focused on my goals for this cx season, which I am mega excited for (news coming soon watch this space). Finally I have also managed to complete my small project of rebuilding an old/broken ‘charge’ fixie. Saved from the dump, it was in an unrideable state when I got it but now rides like new and looks pretty cool too ;) (see photos). For the last year I've been working in a local bike shop, Active Bike Co, as a mechanic and have learnt so much about fixing and repairing all kinds of bikes, a key skill for someone who rides daily!! I'd never gotten round to starting this project as by the time I'd spent the whole day at work fixing bikes then spent another few hours in the saddle training, I didn't want to touch another bike for at least 12hrs. So being stuck at home for 10 days was the perfect opportunity, and i'm super chuffed with how it came out :)) Anyway, I'm now out of isolation and taking things day by day making sure not to make things worse for myself. I've got a long road ahead training wise but with the CX season looming closer, I'm fired up and ready to get going. The best thing about hitting rock bottom, you can only get better from here. I really appreciate Pedal Potential’s support at this time, thank you @PedalPotential. Thanks for reading this months installation, hoping to be back with some race stories soon :)) Amy x
